Race Equality Week
6 - 12 February
The University of Cambridge joins thousands of organisations and individuals across the U.K. in supporting this year’s Race Equality Week. Race Equality Week is a national movement that addresses barriers to race equality within the workplace.
This year’s theme is “It’s Everyone’s Business” – a reminder that we are all responsible for tackling race inequality within our institution. The University supports the numerous staff- and student-led initiatives that promote race equality and inclusion across our community. These include the Race Equality Network (REN), our Race Equality Champions, the BME Campaign, and the Black Advisory Hub.
However, the University acknowledges that there is still a lot of work to be done. As part of the University’s commitment to the Race Equality Charter, outlined key priorities and implemented a 3-year action plan to address issues such as diversifying staff and student recruitment, increasing BME representation at senior levels, and improving support for BME staff and students.
In line with the University’s support of this year’s Race Equality Week and our ongoing commitment to the Race Equality Charter, we encourage our staff and students to engage with the training resources, reading lists, and recorded events.
