We are pleased to announce that the University is holding an inaugural Black@Cambridge Event on
15 October 2025, at St Catharine’s College, during Black History Month.
This half-day event is aimed at understanding the workplace experiences of Black colleagues. This includes a multitude of people of African descent under a broad umbrella.
It will give attendees an opportunity to share their own experiences and hear from guest speakers Professor Robert Mokaya (University of Sheffield), and Dr Jummy Okoya (University of East London).
In addition to hearing about examples of best practice, and discussing the Black workforce landscape more widely, there will also be a panel Q&A moderated by Dr Grace Idahosa; and three interactive mini-workshops, where attendees will discuss:
- establishing opportunities for career progression;
- negotiating the barriers to achieving excellence in UK Higher Education; and
- addressing employment inequities.
All Black colleagues are encouraged to come along and share their personal experiences.
Refreshments and lunch will be provided.
