Equality, Diversity & Inclusion

Navigating the transition to and from parental leave can be both rewarding and challenging. To support University staff through this significant life change, we are offering two workshops designed to provide practical guidance, reflection, and connection with others on similar journeys.

Who Are the Workshops For?

These small-group sessions are open to all staff preparing for or returning from maternity, adoption, co-parent or shared parental leave. They provide a supportive space to discuss experiences and develop strategies for managing work and family life. These will be run termly.

1. Preparing for Family Leave Workshop This session is ideal for anyone planning to take maternity, adoption, paternity/co-parent, or shared parental leave.

  • Address concerns and fears about the changes ahead.
  • Explore the potential impact on life and career.
  • Learn strategies for having effective conversations and creating a personal action plan.

Wednesday 14 May 12.30 – 2pm

 2. Returning to Work after Family Leave Workshop This session is designed for those who have recently returned from maternity, adoption, paternity/co-parent, or shared parental leave. It may also be helpful for anyone seeking to reassess their work-family balance.

  • Discuss practical approaches for doing so without guilt.
